Charles P. Hobby, Sr., age 81, died Friday March 16, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is Tuesday from 12 noon until 1:30pm at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison. A chapel service will follow at 2:00pm and military honors will be provided.

Mr. Hobby was a native of Philadelphia, MS and joined the US Army, where he served in Vietnam and Korea. He was very distinguished, having been awarded a Purple Heart, two Bronze Medals and two Army Commendation Medals. He retired from the US Army in 1971 after 25 years of service and then continued his civilian life as a Jackson businessman. Mr. Hobby was an avid Pilot and Aviator Instructor.

Mr. Hobby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Etsuko "Tommie" Hobby; daughters, Patsy Rogers of Ridgeland and Hilda Owen (Chris) of Byram; son, Charles Hobby, Jr. (Gina) of Ridgeland; brother, James Hobby of Brandon; grandchildren, Marie Owen, Alisha Rogers, Emily Owen, Jessie Owen, Melissa Hobby Thomas (Steven), Whitney Hobby Pleasant (Chandler) and Allison Hobby; great grandchildren, John Haines, Emma Owen and Ethan Owen and sister-in-law, Kazuko Stephens of Phoenix, AZ.
